WHAT A SUNDAY IN SANDYCOVE!
What an amazing Sunday for Sandycove,
The ladies set the tone in the morning with a clean sweep.
Whilst in the afternoon our Men’s Over 35 2nds, 3rds and 4ths all came through their home playoffs with big wins!
Not only does this mean promotion for all three teams next year, but they have also secured their places in the quarter-finals this Saturday. What a weekend!
The 2nds, captained by Stephen McGoohan, and boosted by subs Philip Edbrooke and Greg McDowell were too strong for our neighbours Monkstown, putting in a fantastic team performance to book their place in the next round.
The 3rds had a tricky Wicklow side to negotiate and called on some excellent support from the subs, with Des Noctor, Dave Hanley and Liam Hurley stepping in and gelling seamlessly with the team. A great performance saw them through to the quarter-finals.
The 4ths produced some excellent tennis against LCC. Dave and Ken were too strong for their opponents, while the John & Peter combination continued their winning ways. Stephane and Chris battled hard to take the first set before the match was brought to a close.
Three great wins, three promotions and three quarter-final spots!
It really is shaping up to be a huge weekend for the club, with plenty of action as Sandycove fight for some semi-final spots
Come on Sandycove!
