Lovely ladies of Sandycove,

Brief update on our Winter League endeavours, a save the date, and a mention re the Nike Sandycove Strip.

A less successful week on court last Sunday for many of the teams.
3 of our teams met strong Monkstown opposition and only one, our Class 6 team, abley captained (and sugared!) by Mairead Mackey, came out the right side on the day. Great wins from Fiona Spillane and Jenny McCann, and Captain Mairead and Oisine Hannon.
Anita and Anna were very unlucky in a tough 3 setter.
Monkstown were triumphant against both Aideen’s Class 3 team and Clodagh’s class 4 team.

Our Class 2 team won well against David Llyod, 2:1; with new member Ellen Pinschmitt making her Sandycove debut and winning with Sarah Jane in an exciting 7-5; 76 result. Sandie and Sarah battled it out in 3 sets and came out on top, with Ruth Dillon and Chloe unlucky against an extremely strong pairing at 1s.

Linda displayed phenomenal captaincy skills for her class 3 team by calling ahead to make sure Trinity had courts ready for us! Trinity may be a bit scatty with the court management and organisational skills but they had what it took to beat us on the (rented!) courts on the day.

Class 5 had a great 2:1 win against Greystones, with points secured by captain Mairead Walsh and Lisa Morgan, and Emma Flanagan and Jade Hanley – both pairings coming out on top of tough 3 setters. Our super sub Zuilmah and Catherine were unlucky at 1s.

Class 7, captained by the glamourous Mary Donohoe, got a point against Greystones; secured by our no. 1 pairing Ellen O’Carroll and Niamh Hughes.

Also, just to mention that, with restrictions easing, we are looking forward to when we can open our Clubhouse for social events once more. Plans are in motion – but for now just a ‘save the date’ for a ladies evening of Tennis and catch-ups on Nov 12th.

Finally, everyone who had ordered the new Sandycove Nike gear in the first batch – its in! Many of you have received it already and response has been positive! Anyone who still has to collect – Mandy has it so maybe shoot me a DM. Prompt payment via Revolut/ Bank transfer or cash (correct amount!) appreciated!
