Our U18 girls team put in another strong performance this week, playing Wicklow LTC at home. No sooner had they started to warm up, when the weather took a turn for the worse, with very windy and wet conditions.

The girls battled on, and managed to carve out a 2-1 win for Sandycove, Laura Emerson winning no. 2 singles, and
Sarah White and Emma Holmes winning a nail biting doubles in two sets. Sophie Grant was unlucky in a close match
against the Wicklow no.1 and seasoned tournament player.

The girls toughest opposition is yet to come, with their next match, April 2nd away to Bray, Co.Wicklow – of
course featuring one of the Naughton family- so lots of training time planned over the next three weeks!

U18 Boys A started campaign with away trip to Glenageary.

Max Vidal at 1st singles won 6/2, 6/2 in match of high quality with big hitting from both players. Alex Wardlaw at 2nd singles lost 1/6, 7/5, 10/4 in match with some great shots from both players.

Paddy Buckley & Ronan Prior won 1/6, 6/4, 10/3 against very strong Glenageary pairing. One of the Glenageary
players had played Class 4 Winter League. Both Ronan and Paddy played exceptional well and were rock solid in the
tiebreaker in winning the decisive point. A good start to the campaign.

U18 Boys 2 team arrived at Monkstown for the first of their round of matches. The tennis was fast moving, skilful and very exciting to watch.

Daniel Nolan at 1st singles met up with a strong opponent, unfortunately he ultimately lost out in the battle of the serves.

Max Kane at 2nd singles rallied up a storm with his opposite, despite the rain, exiting victorious after an exciting, close run match.

Aidan Leahy and James Grant was a graceful and fast moving game, sadly they succumbed to the opposition. Some really great tennis boys against tough opponents and in challenging conditions, hard luck this time.
