Ruth Milne and Natalie Flanagan

On Friday, 1st April a fundraiser was held in Sandycove Tennis Club to raise funds for the Red Cross in aid of the crisis in Ukraine. The event was wonderfully organised by Ruth and Natalie and the amount of money raised led to a final exceptional tally of €5,250.

Forty eight members paid an entry fee to participate in a fun tournament, local businesses and members contributed and wonderful prizes for the raffle were donated. Members also brought down nibbles to support this event. Mary and Agnes helped organise and run the tennis side of things and even waived their normal fee to help support the cause! I am sure other volunteers were involved that I am not privy to but a big thanks to all involved and those who purchased raffle tickets whilst not able to attend.

The feedback from the night was extraordinary and while all who attended agreed it was great fun, the poignancy of the occasion was never lost. From a personal point of view I would like to express my pride in the participation of everyone involved and the amount of money raised for The Red Cross. It will take some effort to replicate such a feel good moment in my tenure as President of this wonderful club and its community.

Final mention goes out again to Ruth and Natalie who epitomize everything that is wonderful about a community effort and to send out the message that their club is proud of them.
