On Saturday evening the U12 Boys & Girls travelled to Newtownpark, Blackrock, for another round of matches.

Court 1
On Court 1, Macdara White returned from injury (broken finger) to play with James Sherry. The boys played well but their opponents raced ahead to a 0-4 lead.

James and Macdara wiped off the cobwebs and came back to 3-4…and battled out a few more games but unfortunately lost 5-8.

Court 2
On Court 2, Charlie Casey & Jack Pinschmidt were playing well. However despite some great long rallys, the bounce of the ball didn’t go their way and they found themselves down 0-7 before pulling a few games back to finish 3-10.

Court 3
On Court 3, Euan Starbuck & Charlie Doyle were up against a very strong pairing, who would have given the boys on Court 1 and 2 a run for their money! Both Newtownpark boys had very strong serves and despite pushing a number of games to Deuce, our boys lost out 0-13.

Court 4 (Friendly)
Charlie Hughes & Jude Reynolds had a decent game against a fairly matched pairing, with the score matched throughout, however the boys lost the ti-break and finished 5-8.

So overall a tough night under the lights in Newtownpark….but all valuable experience!

Our girls arrived ready to play their best.

Nia and Saffron had very tough opponents and lost out in what was a battle. Catherine and Maya won their nail biting match and dispatched from the courts smiling, sealing a 7-6 win. Alannah and Lucy had a very close match but just missed out losing 7-6. Tough luck girls.

This Saturday is finals weekend – last match of this campaign. The very best of luck to our players. If you are free at 5pm maybe drop down and wish them luck.
