Dear fellow member,

Sandycove is first and foremost a members driven club delivering both a competitive and fun environment for its members. It is in this spirit that we have explored the possibility of building relationships with other Clubs so that we can both broaden interclub activity opportunities and have some fun doing it.

Over the last 6 months we have developed such a relationship with Sunday’s Well Boating and Tennis Club situated on the banks of the River Lee in Cork and one of Munster’s leading tennis Clubs. Following initial discussions both Clubs have decided that it would be great to pull together an annual interclub Mixed event focussed on fun while being competitive and this will take place on Saturday the 23rd of April next.

The event will cover Class 3 to Class 7 players. The outline plan will be to travel to Cork on the afternoon of Friday the 22nd and meet for arrival drinks ideally with the team staying in the same hotel. Non-playing partners are welcome to travel. The inaugural Sandycove Vs Sunday’s Well tournament will take place on Saturday the 23rd with Sunday’s Well hosting dinner for both teams and supporters on Saturday evening with cultural expressions through music encouraged.

We do not envisage any major costs other than those associated with accommodation and a small participation fee to be agreed.

The purpose of our email today is to gauge interest so that we can best begin to plan in terms of number of pairings and classes. This has all the hallmarks of a great fun event and the start of what we hope to be an annual event for the Club. If you are interested in being part of the team/event, can we ask you to express your interest & desired Class level to Aileen and John F. by emailing them on or before February 20th next.
