The Club are delighted to congratulate Ronan Sweeney on having achieved a 4 year tennis scholarship to the Northern Kentucky University in USA.This is a tremendous achievement and well deserved honour for Ronan and, as the first -ever Sandycove member to go on a US tennis scholarship , we are rightly very proud of him.

Ronan has been a rising star for many years and in 2014 was the Irish under 14 singles champion in Fitzwilliam , bridging a gap of almost 60 years back to our last Irish junior singles champion, the late Jimmy Casey. As well as winning many junior tournaments , he also represented Ireland and Leinster in many under age competitions.

Ronan has already won the Sandycove singles club championships on 2 occasions in 2016 and 2017 (and , no doubt , he will add to this tally over the coming years !).

As well as his fantastic individual achievements, Ronan has been a great club man and a key member of the club’s junior and senior teams in recent years, culminating in him helping our U-18 team to the final of the Class 1 league in 2017 and the Men’s 1st team to winning Class 2 of the Floodlight league in the same year,

On behalf of all in Sandycove , we wish Ronan all the very best in this great challenge and look forward to seeing him around the club anytime he is home.
