We had the third round of group matches this weekend in senior league. The group matches will take place over six weeks due to the senior interpros so we are now at the half-way stage. All of our teams playing in week 1 and week 2 won their matches so we got off to a great start and 2 of our 5 teams won this weekend.

Over 35 team – Class 2 (7 points out of 9)

Our team are in clear 2nd place in the group and are playing the leaders, Carrickmines, at home next week. The team have had 3 straight wins so far. A win in the last match at home to Glasnevin would guarantee a place in the play-offs regardless of the result next weekend.

Over 45 1st team – Class 1 (3 points out of 6)

We are in a 3-way tie for 2nd place in the group behind runaway leaders, Malahide. This follows a 2-1 win over Fitwilliam and a 2-1 loss to Donnybrook. Next up is a trip to Sutton on Sunday following Ireland’s opening game in the rugby world cup.

Over 45 2nd team – Class 2 (2 points out of 6)

The team started with a great 2-1 over Charleville but were outgunned by Naas 1sts on Sunday. Next up is the short trip to Blackrock.

Over 55 1st team – Class 1 (6 points out of 6)

We have had a dream start with 3-0 wins so far against both Claremont and Templeogue. Next week the team play Clontarf, which will be a crunch match. Two teams progress straight into the final and we are well placed.

Over 55 2nd team – Class 2 (6 points out of 9)

After 2 good wins to start the campaign against Greystones and St Marys the team lost out this weekend to Castleknock 1sts by 2-1. They were helped by an opponent getting his times wrong resulting in a walkover. The team play Lansdowne 1sts in the last game and need a win to make the play-offs.

Over 65 League

Our two Over 65 teams were in action last Thursday. Our 1st team lost out 2-1 in Clontarf in Class 1 with Michael Butler and Pat Giles performing heroically to win 11-9 in a championship tie-break. Our 2nd team in Class 2 lost out 3-0 at home to Clontarf.

Many thanks to everyone competing and to all of our subs who have participated so far. Best of luck to everyone in the remaining group games.
