Congratulations to both our men’s 3rd and 4th teams who won their semi-finals last night and will be competing in the Class 4 and Class 5 finals next Monday at 7.30pm.
Our 3rd team had to make the long journey to Clane for their semi-final. First off court was Aaron Hickey who played with power, precision and speed winning his singles 6-3 6-3. He was followed by Luke Hanley and myself in the doubles who had longer rallies but won comfortably 6-2 6-2. Paul Fitzgerald was in control of the other singles leading 7-5 3-0 when play was stopped. Many thanks to Aaron and Paul for subbing and a huge thank you to club stalwart, Dave Hanley, who travelled out to Clane to support the team.
The 4th team had a home fixture against Mount Pleasant 4ths. Harry Wall had a convincing win in his singles 6-2 6-0. Ken Browne and Roy Bailey managed to get themselves drawn together again in the doubles and won well 6-3 6-1. Mark Cunningham was well on top in the other singles 6-4 1-1 when play was stopped. The team will be playing Skerries 2nds in the final.
The venue for both finals has not yet been announced by the DLTC but will be communicated once known. All support would be greatly appreciated as always.
Finally, on behalf of all of the men in the club I would like to wish our superb Ladies 1st team the very best of luck in their Class 2 semi-final away to Naas at 7.30pm this evening. The winner of that game will be promoted to Class 1, which would be an incredible achievement.
