This league is now in its third year and comprises a +70 league contested by 10 clubs spread over Class 1. & 2; and a +75 league contested by 6 clubs. Each club fields a team of 2 doubles pairings.
Men’s Over 75
The +75 team under the astute captaincy of Jimmy Casey aided by Des Murray are on a winning roll having won 3 out of 3. The squad comprises Dermot Finnucane, striking fear into the opposition, Des Murray, Ken Peare, Des Fitzgerald, Vinny Dunphy and Michael Butler. The final round of matches will be played Monday May 14 @ 11am in Glenageary, where victory will secure the League winners pennant. All support welcome.
Men’s Over 70
The +70 team are facing increased competition from new entrants to the league, namely Fitzwilliam and Naas. Ken Peare, having captained the team last year to the Class 1 winners podium, again leads the team ably abetted by Giles Kerr; Dermot Finnucane (that man again), Des Murray and Michael Butler making up the core of the team. At the half way mark we are 50% victorious. The league concludes at Templeogue on Thursday May 17 @ 11am and we hope to be battling for third place. All support welcome on the day.
Congratulations to both teams on continuing to represent the club so well which playing excellent tennis. They are role models to us all.
