LADIES WINTER LEAGUE QUARTER FINAL

Our truly brilliant First Team sailed through their quarter final at home against Malahide 2 on Sunday. First back into the clubhouse were Beccy Breech and super-sub Petra Grehan who played brilliantly to overcome a tricky pair 6-4, 6-1. Huge thanks to Petra who has contributed massively to the success of the team so far. Next off were Aine Leonard and Orla Patton who beat two very good players 6-3, 6-3 to ensure a semi-final away to Glasnevin on March 24th. Fabulous tennis, ladies, you were a joy to watch. There will be no rugby internationals on March 24th, so no-one has any excuse not to support, even if it is out in the wilds of Glasnevin. This will be a very tough match and if Sandycove win, it will mean Class 1 tennis for our top ladies next winter, so it’s all to play for. We’ll be there to cheer you on, ladies!

LADIES SOCIAL TENNIS WITH GLENAGEARY, APRIL 5TH

On Friday April 5th, we are co-hosting a morning of social tennis with Glenageary ladies. Games will take place in Sandycove and Glenageary from 9.30-12, followed by sandwiches and cakes in Glenageary. All standards will be playing, so please, everyone put your names down and we can make it a fun morning of tennis and local rivalry. LADIES SUMMER LEAGUE SIGN UP

I know it seems bizarre to talk about Summer League when our Firsts are still playing Winter League, but I want to set up some competitive ladders/round-robins ahead of league this year, to help with selection and to ensure we are as prepared as we can be for the battles ahead! So I’m putting up Summer League sign up sheets from tomorrow and then we will aim to play ladders for four weeks, which will take us up to the two weeks of coaching before summer league. Then we can get the best out of our coaching by preparing in our teams.

You can help by getting your name up on the sheet ASAP, and making it clear whether you want to play singles or doubles.
