Our truly brilliant first team braved the freezing temperatures in Donnybrook last night and secured a fabulous win to send them through to the semi-finals. First out of the hat for singles was captain Emma O’Rourke, followed swiftly by Solid Sandie O’Callaghan with Aine Leonard and Sarah Emerson getting the glamour draw in the warmth of the dome. Facing an extremely talented junior, Emma was battled brilliantly, but, alas! The junior was nothing short of super-human.

We had no clue what was happening inside the dome, but had to hope that Áine and Sarah were good for the win, despite facing strong, experienced players. And so it came to pass, it was down to Sandie, who overcame legging it from work and freezing her arse off to grind out an extremely hard-fought win against a tough opponent 6-4, 6-3. No scores were put up and it was nip and tuck all the way, so we really had no idea who was winning until the Donnybrook player hit the ball in the net and then ran up to shake hands. Woohoo! The team will now face Naas 2 away next Tuesday 19th. They would love some familiar faces to come and cheer them on; this is a big one. Only one more win til promotion girls, you are massive, massive legends, the lot of you!
