**JUNIOR RESULTS UPDATE**
It has been a busy few weeks on the tournament scene with various tournaments going on around the country. We have numerous Sandycove players participating in singles, doubles and Phoenix events and ranging in age from U8- U18. ST ANNE’S WATERFORD JUNIOR OPEN
We had 2 Sandycove players dominate the U18 Boys Singles in the form of Mark Griffin and Liam Reynolds. Congratulations to Mark Griffin on claiming the title on a narrow scoreline of 6-2 7-6 (9-7). Well done to both!
BRAY OPEN
Max Vidal made the last 16- where he put up a good fight against the eventual winner 6-4 6-3. Max also reached the Semi Final of the u14 Boys Doubles, again only going down to the eventual winners and number 1 seeds.
Oisin O’Hanlon made the Semi-Final of the Boys U18 Singles in a battle that could have gone either way with a scoreline of 10-6 in the 3rd set tie-break.
The u12 Boys Singles Plate was an all Sandycove affair with Conor White coming through on top against Noah Vidal in a close 6-1 7-5 match.
KPMG CARRICKMINES JUNIOR OPEN
We had lots of Sandycove participants in the Carrickmines Junior Open which is a Cat 1 and one the top 3 Junior tournaments in the country which makes the following results all the more promising..
Liam Reynolds had a brilliant tournament and fought off tough competition to make it to the final of the Boys U18 Singles. Liam also made the final of the U18 Boys Doubles, along with his partner Oisin O’Hanlon (photo included below)
Alex Wardlaw won the final of the U12 Boys Plate. Well done to Alex!
Theo Claffey was runner up in U14 Boys Singles Plate. Theo had a very fight final with the match decided on a 3rd set championship tiebreak!
Sophie Fitzgearld had a great run through the U11 Girls Singles, making it all the way to the Semi Final and facing the number 1 seed. Well done to Sophie!
Also, well done to Cian Murphy who came through qualifying beating the number 7 seed 6-2 7-6 !
JUNIOR WEST OF IRELAND 2018- SLIGO
Congratulations to Caoimhin Cronin who got to the final of the U14 Boys Singles after an incredible run through the draw as an unseeded player. Caoimhin took out the number 1 seed in an epic battle finishing 17-15 in the 3rd set championship tiebreak! He then followed up the win by taking out the number 3 seed 10-8 in another extremely close 3rd set championship tiebreak. Caoimhin then faced the number 2 seed in the final where again he put on another great performance, narrowly losing 11-9 in yet another battle of a 3rd set championship tiebreak! Well done Caoimhin on a great tournament.

GLASNEVIN JUNIOR OPEN 2018
Max Vidal reached the quarter final of the Boys U14 Singles where he came agonisingly close to a place in the semi final, just coming up short 10-8 in a 3rd championship tie break.
CLAREMONT PHOENIX 2018
Well done to Cian and Cillian Murphy who both reached the semi finals on the Boys U12 Singles Gold Event. Cian had a hard battle coming so close in the 3rd set champ tiebreak 10-6! Cillian played the eventual winner in the semi final, as did Noah Vidal in the quarter finals. Well done to the boys on a great tournament!
CASTLEBAR JUNIOR OPEN 2018
A big well done to Kate Begley who got to the final of the Girls U12 Singles knocking out the number 1 seed along the way 7-5 0-6 10-4 ! Kate also put up a great fight in the final in the blistering heat. Well done to Kate!
Congratulations also to Sean Patrick White and Conor White who got the final of the U12 Boys Plate with Sean Patrick just clinching victory 7-6. Well done to everyone on the Sandycove Team who came along to Castlebar. We had some great matches in challenging hot conditions and had a really fun weekend overall. Thank you also to Aoife Wynne who assisted for the weekend and did an incredible job. Looking forward to Castlebar 2019 ! (Photos included below)
