**JUNIOR LEAGUE RESULTS UPDATE**
Congratulations to our 2 Junior League teams who made the play offs. Our u14 Girls came up against a very strong Donnybrook team in the last 16 and unfortunately went down 2-1. Well done to Amy Wardlaw and sub Kate Begley who battled hard in their match, clinching it in a champ tie break. The girls had a great campaign, coming through their group and into the play offs. Thank you to all players, subs, team manager Anita Kane and all parents who helped along the way.
A huge congrats to our Boys U18 Team who have made it through the Finals! The boys flew through their quarter final play off against Clontarf, then faced Deerpark 1 in the semi final yesterday. First off court were the superb doubles duo of Sam Hughes and Caoimhin Cronin. The boys raced to a 5-1 lead and although the Deerpark boys tried to stage a comeback, Sam and Caoimhin took the win 6-4 6-1.
In the singles, Will Fitzgearld was up against a strong competitor but got his nose from the offset with a break of serve in the first game and kept control of the match from there, coming through 6-2 6-1. In the other singles, Harry Wall had another tough competitor but when he got going, he edged in front in the first set and managed to nab it 6-4. He fell behind in the second but in true Harry style he fought back and took the set 7-5. A fantastic 3-0 victory for the boys.
The team (managed by Breda Hughes) are now in the final which takes place in Templeogue this Saturday afternoon Nov 17th (time TBC) against Naas 1. All support welcome. I would like to wish the boys the very best of luck in the final and to enjoy the day. A great team effort from all players, subs, parents, throughout the campaign in getting to this stage. Well done, all of Sandycove will be rooting for you on Saturday!!
