The Blue and Gold is probably the friendliest competitive tennis tournament in the world. So it is a real privilege to captain Sandycove’s return to this local clubs mixed doubles competition.

We are doing well so far having won two and drawn one of our three outings. On the entertainment side I would say we are joint leaders with Glenageary after they tabled numerous bottles of wine in addition to fantastic food last Friday night. All this despite Glenageary loosing heavily to a brilliant Sandycove…still … we achieved our objective of winning and leaving our opponents smiling!

The four mixed doubles pairings are: Liz Murphy & Tim Eaton, Gerry Ryan & Frank McCooey, Corinne Giacometti & Bernard O’Hare and Margaret Cowan & Declan Hynes. We have also benefited from super subs: John F. Burke, Jenny Cullen, Pat Leamy, Paul Kilduff, Rory O’Hagan, Jacqui Lyons and Simon Hugh Jones.

We have shared some great food recipes and unfortunately I still don’t know why its called the Blue and Gold!

I will keep you posted on our adventure
