The Sandycove Boxes competition has a long tradition in the club. It has always been a great way to meet new people and play against opponents of a similar standard that you might not usually face. In recent years, however, activity levels have fallen as players have taken on other commitments. While sign-ups have remained strong, the number of matches played has been disappointingly low.
The ladies’ section has been running a very successful singles ladder and, to encourage wider uptake, there will not be a ladies’ singles boxes competition. Instead, we will be running:
- Men’s Singles
- Ladies’ Doubles
- Men’s Doubles
- Mixed Doubles
Sign-up closes on 18th Sept, with play starting shortly afterwards. The first round will run for approximately 8 weeks, with the hope of extending into a second and third round depending on engagement.
To sign up, please email boxes@sandycovetsc.ie. Confirm which competitions you would like to enter and give an approximate estimation of your playing standard (no need to be overly modest!). If you have a preferred doubles partner, please include their name; if not, we’ll do our best to match you up.
