Garda Vetting Update

Tennis Ireland (TI) has officially launched new Garda vetting forms in line with recent updates from the National Vetting Bureau. Forms for (i) Over 18’s and (ii) 16–17-Year-Old’s have been revised for enhanced clarity, Tennis clubs and applicants must cease using old vetting forms immediately, as they will no longer be accepted.

The updated Garda vetting application forms are now available to download on the TI website (https://www.tennisireland.ie/safeguarding/garda-vetting) for new and renewing applicants. Garda vetting disclosures are valid for 3 years.

To avoid any delays in processing, please ensure the new Garda vetting forms are used without delay. Individuals can submit applications with a €10 fee directly to the TI Garda vetting office (Email address: Vetting@tennisireland.ie).

Please note that the Identity Document validation must be completed by a validator at the club before any application is sent to the vetting address as forms will be returned. Form fees can be expensed. Please check with Amanda at the office if you have any questions (support@sandycovetsc.ie).

 

Garda vetting applications should be sought without delay for any club member who is directly working with or supervising children and/or vulnerable adults in activities.

 

What are the new changes to the Garda vetting forms?

  • A consent (tick-box) section is included.
  • A table of specific roles listed in the vetting application table are eligible for vetting is now included; applicants must select one role listed to be entered into the form.
  • The list of required identity documents has been simplified and clarified to make it easier for applicants.
  • Each form now includes a final applicant checklist to help applicants verify that all required steps have been completed.
  • A new Identity Verification Form has been introduced, which must be completed by an authorised validator (i.e. S/C T&S Club DLP, CCOs, Club Sec or Club Admin).

In relation to 16–17-year-old vetting applicants only:

  • One Photo ID – A passport is one of the accepted documents
  • One Address ID – The letter from the school is accepted as the proof of address. The applicant’s name and address must be listed on the school letter and must be dated within 6 months.
