Fred O’Neill and John Finnegan were up against two experienced man mountains. Whilst they had some chances they just could not push through in the end. Another day, different story!
Drawn as the second pairing, Lar Enderson and Paul Holmes had a nervous start going 2 games down before finding their rhythm and catching up to go and win the first set 6-4. Then in their stride they took the second set 6-0 to win the point for the home team .
Finally Ken Flanagan and Gary O’Sulluvan came across very seasoned opposition. They started to steady the ship in the second set, gaining some ground. However the visitors’ experience proved too much and they pulled away to win the match.
Easter Cup 2026 Meadowvale vs Sandycove Team 1

Sandycove arrived in Meadowvale accompanied by the rare sight of gleaming sunshine. The first pairing drawn out of the hat were Dave O Sullivan and Chris O Grady. Despite some heavy hitting and great play by their opponents Sandycove cruised to a 6-0 6-1 victory. A great start for the team.
Second pairing of Stephane de Bure and Philip Bayfield dominated proceedings to secure a vital second point of the day winning in straight sets 6-2 6-1.
Paul McMillan and Peter McCann made up the final pairing and in this matchup Meadowvale found some form and rhythm with the aid of an ex Sandycove player David Foulds. In what was the most competitive match of the day Meadowvale prevailed to take it 6-3 6-3.
Another great result on the road for Sandycove Team 1 winning 2-1 overall to stay second in the table.
